This fourth novel in the Jack Reacher series (published in the U.S. as RUNNING BLIND) takes Reacher and an attractive FBI operative from Washington, DC, to Washington State--and nearly every borough of New York--tracking a killer whose victims are all female ex-army personnel, all killed in bathtubs filled with camouflage paint. The storytelling is tense and the plot compelling, but Hayward Morse's performance is marred by incongruous pronunciation and overacted characterizations. American listeners may be thrown off by some of the British pronunciations of common words, inconsistent with the New York characters. The name of the city "Spokane," which plays significantly in the novel, is mispronounced throughout. S.E.S. (c) AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine
